JWLA is a landscape architecture design firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Founded by Jay Warner in 2021, JWLA strives to connect the relationships between the natural and built environment.

JWLA is built off a passion for the outdoors, focused on a love for plants and a deep appreciation for the arts. We strive to create a sense of place, guided by the surrounding built and environmental landscapes, and believe in creating enduring landscapes through our distinct designs and by utilizing quality materials and responsible plantings.

In an ever changing world, it is important for us to be thoughtful of our selections and we take care in specifying water efficient and native plantings, and select our materials wisely. Our goal is to capture the spirit of the landscape in which we work on, and by focusing on these values, we form our design direction, which ultimately helps us create a more sustainable design.

Jessica Colvin Landscape Architect

Jessica, a daughter of immigrants, began her love of trees and all things green in the San Bernardino mountains. Surrounded by conifer forests and oak woodlands, her connection to diverse California ecosystems provides the foundation to her appreciation of native and adaptive species.

Having spent years working in the public sector, Jessica's expertise in accessibility and community spaces grounds her work with an equal understanding of human experience as well as aesthetic quality. Her practical experience in landscape installation and maintenance serves as a balancing point to consider the design implications on labor. Jessica is a fluent Spanish-speaker and appreciates the opportunity to communicate with crews directly and seamlessly.

Jessica has been fortunate to teach at multiple universities and currently lectures at the University of California Davis, relishing the time spent with future landscape architects.
